China to Mexico

China–Mexico Freight: FCL, LCL & Air

Yihang Shipping is a China-based freight forwarder for shipping from China to Mexico by sea freight FCL, sea freight LCL, and air. Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Veracruz are the usual Mexican gateways; the right one depends on your inland city, equipment type, and whether the cargo is standard container, out-of-gauge, reefer, or breakbulk. Ocean and air on this lane are quoted prepaid only. Transit and cost are confirmed at quotation, not taken from a blog average. Yihang is not the Mexican importer of record.

Door-to-door / DDP to Mexico

We can quote DDP or port-to-door when the lane is clear on the inquiry. You provide your Mexican importer RFC and your customs broker details. Ocean and air freight are quoted prepaid only.

Shipment planner

See which mode to ask for.

This does not invent a freight rate. It uses the lane and the volume to point at FCL, LCL, air, or rail, then opens a quote with those facts filled in.

Planning note

Add a volume if you have one.

Without CBM, the table on this page is the whole answer. With CBM, we point at one mode and draft the quote.

How to plan this lane

Windows below are how the trade plans the move. They are not a Yihang booking.

Mode Planning window When it fits
Ocean FCL Pacific sailings usually discharge at Manzanillo or Lázaro Cárdenas; Gulf cargo may use Veracruz. Port-to-port days depend on the China load port and the rotation on the quote. Dalian usually adds a feeder. Inland Mexico is extra. Full-container loads from about 15 CBM, reefer boxes, and cargo that should not be deconsolidated.
Ocean LCL The sailing plus consolidation in China and deconsolidation at a Mexican CFS. Total time is confirmed at quotation. Smaller commercial lots, usually under about 12 CBM, when the cargo is stackable and not restricted.
Air freight Airport-to-airport into Mexico when the ocean plan misses the date. Door time depends on pickup, customs release, and delivery. Urgent parts, samples, and high-value cargo that cannot wait for the feeder and ocean leg.

Mexican ports and which fits which destination

  • Manzanillo (Pacific): the usual gateway for standard FCL and LCL to western and central Mexico, including the Mexico City area by truck, Guadalajara, and many industrial parks on the west coast.
  • Lázaro Cárdenas (Pacific): often checked when cargo is out-of-gauge, heavy, or when the inland route from Michoacán and some western destinations works better than Manzanillo.
  • Veracruz (Gulf): the natural discharge for eastern and Gulf-facing destinations and for some northern routes when the inland math favors the Gulf coast.
  • There is no single best port for all of Mexico. Send the supplier city in China, the delivery address or state, and the cargo dimensions so the quote compares gateways on one page.

FCL vs LCL vs air from China to Mexico

  • FCL sea freight China to Mexico: a full 20-foot, 40-foot, high-cube, open-top, flat-rack, or reefer container from your load port to a Mexican port or door. Typical from about 15 CBM up, or when the cargo must stay in one box.
  • LCL sea freight China to Mexico: shared container space into Manzanillo or another gateway, then Mexican deconsolidation. Usually under about 12 CBM for stackable general cargo. Between 12 and 15 CBM, ask for both FCL and LCL.
  • Air freight China to Mexico: priced when the production or project date cannot survive feeder plus ocean time. Customs and delivery at destination are still coordinated on the quote.

Difficult cargo on this lane

  • Out-of-gauge and heavy lift: open-top and flat-rack containers when the piece can be lifted and lashed; breakbulk or project cargo when it cannot.
  • Non-stackable cargo: may not suit LCL and can reduce usable vessel space. Send photos, lift points, and center of gravity.
  • Dangerous goods: UN number, class, and packing group are required before space is named. Undeclared DG is not booked.
  • Reefer: setpoint, ventilation, and plug requirements must match the commodity. A dry container is the wrong tool for temperature-controlled product.
  • Mining and construction machinery: the road to the site is checked before the vessel. The machinery-to-Mexico guide covers port and equipment choices for heavy cargo.

Mexican import documentation and customs basics

  • Importer of record: a Mexican person or company with an active RFC (tax ID) enrolled in SAT’s Padrón de Importadores (and in sector-specific registries when the product requires it). SAT states that importers must register before importing goods into Mexico.
  • Customs broker (agente aduanal): Mexican customs clearance is presented on a pedimento through a licensed broker acting for the importer. ANAM is Mexico’s customs authority. Yihang handles China export on its AEO file — see customs brokerage for export filing.
  • Shipping documents: commercial invoice, packing list, and bill of lading (or air waybill) must match the pedimento data. Certificates, permits, or NOM conformity may apply by product — confirm with your broker before cargo is loaded.
  • China export: handled on Yihang’s AEO brokerage file. Mexico import: coordinated with your broker; the quote says who files and which documents are still missing.
  • Tariffs and duties are not listed on this page. Classification and duty rates are confirmed with your broker against the tariff in force at importation.

Checklist before you request a quote

  • Importer RFC active and enrolled in SAT’s importer registry; customs broker engaged.
  • HS code or clear product description, value, and incoterm (EXW, FOB, CIF, DAP, DDP when confirmed on the quote).
  • Factory city in China, cargo-ready date, weight, CBM, or full dimensions for OOG.
  • Mexican delivery address or preferred port region (Pacific vs Gulf), not only “Mexico”.
  • For reefer or DG: setpoint or UN details. For machinery: lift drawings or photos if available.
  • Ocean and air freight are prepaid only; destination charges and brokerage are listed separately when you ask for them.

How to get a China to Mexico quote

  • Use the quote form on this page, email hello@yihang-shipping.com, or WhatsApp +86 138 4269 5704 with commodity, weight, volume, China origin, Mexican destination, incoterm, and ready date.
  • For project or mining cargo, include length, width, height, and lift method. The desk compares Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Veracruz when the inland city is known.
  • The reply names the mode, a planning window confirmed for that sailing or flight, and what the prepaid rate includes. It does not publish a live tariff sheet.
  • Cargo destined for South America (Argentina, Venezuela, and other Atlantic or Pacific ports) is quoted on the China to South America lane — Mexico gateways on this page are not used as a substitute for those routings.

What goes wrong on this lane

The box is booked to the wrong Mexican port

Manzanillo is the usual Pacific container port, but Lázaro Cárdenas is often checked for out-of-gauge cargo and some western destinations. Veracruz serves the Gulf and much of central and eastern Mexico. A cheap ocean line into the wrong coast loses money once the truck is priced.

The pedimento file is not ready

Mexican import clearance runs through a licensed customs broker on a pedimento. The importer must be enrolled in SAT’s importer registry and hold an active RFC. Yihang clears export in China on its AEO file. The Mexican entry stays with the importer’s broker unless the quote names otherwise.

OOG was quoted as a dry container

Machinery and mining equipment often need open top, flat rack, or breakbulk. Non-stackable cargo changes stowage and may not fit LCL. Dimensions and lift points belong on the first inquiry, not after the vessel is named.

LCL looked cheaper until deconsolidation

Under about 12 CBM, LCL is usually the ocean choice. From about 15 CBM, FCL is often cleaner. Dense or non-stackable cargo can force a full box earlier. Destination handling in Mexico is priced on the quote.

Door delivery was assumed without the road check

A quote that stops at Manzanillo is not a mine site or factory door until the inland leg is on the same page. Heavy and oversized pieces need the road checked before the sailing is fixed.

What to send

  • Commercial invoice and packing list (aligned with the pedimento and HS classification)
  • Bill of lading or air waybill consigned as your broker requires
  • Commodity description and HS code if known
  • Gross weight and CBM, or container type, quantity, and dimensions for OOG
  • China pickup city and the Mexican port or delivery address
  • Incoterm, cargo-ready date, Mexican importer RFC, and customs broker details

Questions shippers ask

How do I ship from China to Mexico?

Most commercial cargo moves ocean FCL or LCL into Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, or Veracruz, then trucks to the importer’s door. Air is used when the date cannot survive feeder plus ocean time. Yihang quotes pickup in China, export clearance, the international leg, and destination services you request. Transit is confirmed on the quote, not guessed from a blog.

Which Mexican port should I use — Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, or Veracruz?

Manzanillo is the default for many Pacific container moves to western and central Mexico. Lázaro Cárdenas is often compared for out-of-gauge cargo and some western inland routes. Veracruz suits Gulf and many eastern destinations. Send the delivery address and cargo size so the quote picks the gateway that keeps the inland leg sensible.

Do you offer DDP from China to Mexico?

DDP can be quoted when the lane, HS code, Mexican importer RFC, and broker arrangement are confirmed on the inquiry. Duties, taxes, and pedimento costs are shown on the quote. Yihang remains the forwarder, not the Mexican importer of record, unless the quote states a different arrangement.

Should I book FCL or LCL from China to Mexico?

Under about 12 CBM, LCL is usually the ocean option for stackable general cargo. From about 15 CBM, FCL is often cleaner. Between those, price both. Heavy, dense, non-stackable, reefer, or DG cargo may need FCL or special equipment regardless of cube.

What documents does Mexican customs need?

Typically a commercial invoice, packing list, transport document (bill of lading or air waybill), and a pedimento filed by your licensed customs broker for the RFC-registered importer. SAT’s importer registry must be in place before import. Product-specific permits or NOM certificates may apply. Your broker confirms the list for your HS code.

What is a pedimento?

The pedimento is Mexico’s customs declaration for import or export. It is prepared and filed by a licensed customs broker on behalf of the importer. The data must match the invoice, packing list, and transport document. Yihang does not file Mexican pedimentos; it coordinates shipping documents with your broker.

Can Yihang handle out-of-gauge, breakbulk, or mining equipment to Mexico?

Yes, when dimensions and the road to the delivery point are known. Open top, flat rack, breakbulk, and project cargo are quoted from measurements, not from a standard container rate. For heavy machinery, the Spanish maquinaria a México page walks through the same port and equipment choices in detail.

Do you offer freight collect to Mexico?

No. Ocean and air freight on this lane are quoted prepaid. The reply names origin charges, the international leg, and any destination services you asked for.
