Heavy machinery from China

Shipping heavy machinery and oversized equipment from China

Heavy and oversized machinery from China usually moves in a flat rack or open-top container when it fits the door and payload, or on breakbulk or part-cargo space when length, height, or weight exceed a routine box file. Send each unit’s length, width, height, gross weight, lifting points, and photos; the desk names the equipment and whether lashing, route checks, or permits are needed before booking. The bauma CHINA 2026 dates and Shanghai venues are listed below for exhibitors planning that show.

Flat rack, open top, or break bulk

  • Flat rack or open top: long or tall machines that still load from above or the side, with lashing to the frame and terminal acceptance confirmed before the vessel is named
  • 40-foot high cube or standard dry box: smaller units that fit the door, clear the roof, and stay within payload after cradles and dunnage
  • Breakbulk or part-cargo: pieces above ordinary container limits, or when the line offers scheduled breakbulk space for the sailing week
  • Inland leg: oversized road haul from the factory in China needs a route check and permits; plan from the hall receiving date, not only the cargo-ready date

What to send for a quote

  • Each unit: length × width × height (mm or cm), gross weight, centre of gravity if known, and whether the unit is non-stackable
  • Factory or pickup city in China, delivery address (hall, port, or door), and cargo-ready date
  • Photos of the machine, cradles, and packaging; say if batteries, fluids, or other restricted items are on board
  • For import into China: ATA carnet or temporary import route, English carnet list if applicable, and which pieces may stay after the show

bauma CHINA 2026 in Shanghai

bauma CHINA 2026 runs across two venues: Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), November 24–27, and Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC), November 23–26. Confirm which hall you are in before booking haulage or ocean space.

  • Two venues with two schedules. The delivery address names SNIEC or SWEECC and the hall.
  • Domestic exhibitors: oversized machines need a route check and permits for the road leg. Yihang runs its own trucks and a partner network for oversized cargo.
  • Imported machines: ATA carnet in English for exhibition use, or temporary import with a deposit. The China broker registers the carnet with CCPIT before declaration.
  • Outdoor and heavy exhibits usually have their own move-in days. The exhibitor manual sets them, and the haul is planned to that day.
  • After the show, a machine can go home, stay in China as a formal import, or move to the next show.

Customs in China

  • China accepts the ATA carnet for exhibitions and fairs. The carnet must be in English, with the purpose marked as exhibition.
  • For freight, the China customs broker registers the carnet electronically with CCPIT before the import declaration.
  • Without a carnet, exhibits enter as temporary imports with a deposit or guarantee, and must leave or be converted within the time allowed.
  • Wooden packing needs a valid IPPC mark. Without it, or without a non-wood packaging declaration, customs can destroy the goods or order them back.
  • Temporarily imported exhibits cannot be sold on the floor. A piece that stays becomes a formal import with duty and VAT.

Questions exhibitors ask

Can you truck a machine from a factory in Northeast China to bauma CHINA?

Yes. Send the dimensions, weight, and photos. Oversized pieces need a route check and permits, so the haul is planned from the move-in day back, not from the day the machine is finished.

How do imported machines enter China for bauma CHINA?

On an ATA carnet written in English for exhibition use, or as a temporary import with a deposit or guarantee. Either way the goods must leave, or be converted to a formal import, within the time allowed. Wooden packing needs a valid IPPC mark.

Can a machine sold at bauma CHINA stay in China?

Yes, as a formal import with duty and VAT, declared by the buyer or an importer of record. Tell the desk before the show which pieces might be sold, because that changes the file.
